SOLICITORS REGULATION AUTHORITY
Director of Authorisation
Salary: £80,000–£90,000 + benefits
The largest regulator of legal services in England and Wales, we regulate more than 200,000 solicitors and 10,000 law firms.
We work to protect the public and support the rule of law and administration of justice. We do this by making sure practising solicitors, as well as those entering the profession, meet the high standards the public expects. We oversee all education and training requirements, license individuals and firms to practise and enforce compliance against the standards we set. We also want to make sure people have real choice in a fair legal market – making it easier for them to access expert legal help when they need it.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Operations and Performance, you will work collaboratively across the Directorate, overseeing the Authorisation, Contact Centre and Business Support teams. You will be responsible for the successful strategic leadership of these core operational teams, making sure there are clear management arrangements and controls in place to successfully deliver our corporate objectives. Working as part of the wider senior leadership team, you will role model our values and behaviours and provide inspirational leadership to your team and across the wider organisation.
We are looking for individuals with a strong track record of strategic leadership of high-performing, cross-functional teams in complex, high-volume, operational environments – including regulatory or legislative settings (or similar). As an empowering and collaborative leader, you will have proven experience in driving continuous improvement and excellence in customer service.
Equality, diversity and inclusion are important in everything we do. We are committed to treating everyone fairly and with respect. We aim to create an inclusive work environment, where staff can be themselves. As part of the SRA’s leadership team, you will have a strong understanding of and commitment to the principles of equality and diversity and their application in public policy.
